45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying. : 46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. 47 And Jesus perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, 48 And faid unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me; and whosoever fhall receive me receiveth him that fent me: for he that is least among you all, the fame shall be great. 49 And John answered and faid, Mafter, we faw one cafting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. 51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly fet his face to go to Jerufalem, 52 And fent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him. 53 And they did not re ceive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerufalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they faid, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and confume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and faid, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. 57 And it came to pass, that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whitherfoever thou goeft. 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he faid, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead; but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. T CHAP. XV. HEN drew near unto him all the publicans and finners for to hear him. 2 And the Pharifees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is loft until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoul ders rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me: for I have found my sheep which was loft. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons which need no repentance. 8 Either what woman having ten pieces of filver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till the find it? 9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had loft. 10 Likewise I say unto you, There is joy in the prefence of the angels of God over one finner that repenteth. II And he faid, A certain man had two sons : 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger fon ga thered thered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wafted his fubstance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him... 17 And when he came to himself, he faid, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arife, and go to my father, and will fay unto him, Father, I have finned against heaven and before thee, 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy fon: make me as one of thy hired servants. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compaffion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have finned against heaven and in thy fight, and am no more worthy to be called thy fon. 22 But the father faid to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it: and let us eat, and be merry: 24 For this my fon was dead, and is alive again; he was loft, and is found. And they began to be merry. 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant? 27 And he faid unto him, Thy brother is come: and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him fafe and found. 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. 29 And he answering faid to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: 30 But as foon as this thy fon was come, which hath D devoured 31 And he faid unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. devoured thy living with much owest thou unto my harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. 32 It was meet that we should make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was loft, and is found. L... CHAP. XVI A S ND he said also unto his difciples, There was a certain rich man which had a steward; and the fame was accused unto him, that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and faid unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship: for thou mayeft be no longer steward....... 3. Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig, to beg I am ashamed... 4 I am refolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and faid unto the first, How lord? 03:19 - 6 And he faid, An hundred measures of oil. And he faid unto him, Take thy bill, and fit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then faid he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he faid unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.. 8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wifer than the children of light. 39 And I say unto you, Make to yourfelves friends of the mammon of unrighteoufness, that when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. to He that is faithful in that which is least is faithfuls alfo in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjuft also in much.. 11 If therefore ye have: not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? : 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your. own? 13 No 13 No servant can ferve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other: or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
