Every month the PARISH MONTHLY enters hundreds of homes. The families that it visits are large. Their wants are innumerable and continuous. Their custom, if concentrated on the firms that advertise here, would make those merchants rich. They can help us, as well as themselves, by dealing with our friends who rent our publicity to ask for their patronage. Let them say, when making a purchase: "I saw your advertisement in the PARISH MONTHLY and that is why I came here to buy," and they will receive extra courteous treatment. They will also do the Monthly a service. The advertisements that appear in the Monthly are an indispensable factor in the achievement of the publica_ tion's success. As they help it, it wants to help them. It does help them by introducing them to an army of customers. It is anxious for them to get the full benefit of their advertisements. It asks its readers to patronize them deliberately and persistently. A. Do you know that we can make use of shoes? We don't ask for new ones, but those which we can have mended and give to children and also to adults. Of course you always will send washable goods in a condition to be at once given to the needy. If you have not the time to mend them, we will do that. Did you ever notice the Poor Boxes in the Parish House as you go down the stairs in that building? It is hard to miss them. 照 Thanksgiving Day: The last Mass will be at 9 o'clock, after which we will pray together for the civic authorities of our State and Nation. We have many things to be thankful for, and we should show our gratitude to God and make ourselves worthy of a continuance of His favors. We will have a Bazaar Drawing next month, for the benefit of the Day Nursery. We will send a little book of tickets to everyone whom we know, and we hope for good results. Do you recollect that it was just a year ago when you saw the three new exits into the Parish House opened for the first time? What a great convenience it has been for us all. Even if we do not go out that way, we profit by the improvement in the rapid dismissal of the congregation. Let us all try, by doing our share, to get the debt off that building. |
